Cyberpunk 2077 Hits the Silver Screen

Is Hollywood finally catching up with virtual futures?

Paramount Pictures is set to bring CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 to life on the big screen, despite the game’s turbulent 2020 launch. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, known for Transformers, will be at the helm. No release date has been confirmed yet.

Michał Nowakowski, joint-CEO of CD Projekt Red, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We’re excited about Paramount as a future partner who shares our creative ambitions for the Cyberpunk franchise.”

The game has sold over 40 million copies and has a sequel in development. It’s also found a home on Netflix in the form of an anime series, with a second season launching soon.

Meanwhile, Paramount is juggling other projects, including a Call of Duty film in 2028 and a Street Fighter movie due out this October.

The adaptation signals a significant move for both companies, potentially paving the way for more interactive narratives in mainstream cinema.
