Amazon Luna Ditches Third-Party Games

Is this a step towards a more controlled gaming universe, or just another cloud with silver linings?

Amazon’s Luna service is axing the ability for players to purchase third-party games and subscriptions. From June 10th, 2026, previously bought titles will vanish from the platform, though they’ll remain playable on other services via original accounts.

The move comes as the company discontinues support for EA, Ubisoft, and GOG’s stores, alongside subscriptions to Ubisoft Plus and Jackbox Games. Luna’s Bring Your Own Library benefit is also history, with users unable to access third-party titles after June 3rd. Third-party game purchases made through Luna will not be refunded.

Launched in 2020 as a rival to Xbox Cloud Gaming and Google Stadia, Amazon Luna offers a range of titles across desktops, mobiles, and smart TVs. Subscriptions include games such as EA Sports FC 26, Hogwarts Legacy, Skyrim, Death Stranding, and more.

A spokesperson for Amazon notes the transition is aimed at models that “work better for our customers long term,” but questions remain about whether this shift will broaden or narrow gaming horizons.
