Razer has given its Blade 16 gaming laptop a speed and battery boost, opting for an Intel Core Ultra 9 386H “Panther Lake” chip over last year’s AMD option. The new model also boasts up to 32GB of LPDDR5X-9600MHz RAM for maximum performance.
The increased power efficiency is a welcome improvement, with Razer claiming the new Blade can handle up to 60% more processing cores and 33% better efficiency. The top-end model offers 2TB of storage, priced at $4,499.99, while a slightly cheaper version with an RTX 5070 Ti is set for release.
Other upgrades include Thunderbolt 5 support on one USB-C port and a refreshed six-speaker audio setup. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6 promise faster connectivity, while the OLED panel now boasts a brighter display of 500 nits in SDR mode.
Irene from Razer seems pleased with Intel’s Panther Lake chip, expressing intrigue at its potential impact on gaming performance and efficiency. However, for those who have already splashed out on a RTX 5090 model last year, the incremental gains might not be worth the upgrade.
The Blade series continues to offer some of the thinnest and most stylish options in the market, making it a choice for gamers seeking premium performance without sacrificing portability. But at these price points, only the truly dedicated will take the leap.
