During its recent Game Developers Conference, Microsoft teased a new, unified user interface for Xbox across consoles, PCs and cloud gaming. Although the changes are subtle, they could signal a significant shift in how gamers interact with their devices.
The new UI aims to provide a consistent experience, making it feel “very distinctly Xbox” no matter where you play. However, Jason Ronald, VP of next generation at Xbox, noted that the design will adapt based on screen size and input methods, ensuring a tailored experience for each device.
One of the key changes includes a more console-like PC app, reminiscent of the new Xbox Cloud Gaming interface. While the UI isn't drastically different from current versions, these small updates could enhance user familiarity across platforms. However, Microsoft declined to comment on specific store changes shown later in the keynote.
The revelation comes as no surprise given the company's ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between console and PC gaming, potentially creating a more cohesive ecosystem. Fans are now eagerly waiting for further details on when these changes might roll out.
