Asus Taps into Sidekick Tech

In a bid to compete, Asus’s new 12.3-inch display aims to be more than just a passing trend in gaming tech.

Asus has entered the side-monitor fray with its latest offering, the ROG Strix XG129C. This 12.3-inch touchscreen IPS display is designed as an auxiliary companion to larger monitors, much like Corsair’s Xeneon Edge or Elgato’s Stream Deck.

While the XG129C may lag a bit in screen size compared to its competitors, it makes up for it with a rich color gamut that covers 125 percent of sRGB and 90 percent of DCI-P3. Additionally, users get a one-year free subscription to AIDA64 Extreme, typically priced at $65.

Gaming setups are becoming increasingly sophisticated, with these side displays not just monitoring performance but also extending functionality for tasks like streaming or editing. The ROG Strix XG129C aims to be a versatile tool in this evolving landscape.

Also making an appearance is the ROG Strix OLED XG34WCDMS, a 34-inch RGB Tandem QD-OLED gaming monitor with a speedy 280Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 3440 x 1440p. It boasts an impressive 99 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut.

Asus’s foray into this niche showcases how peripheral technology is increasingly integral to modern gaming setups, offering more than just visual enhancement but also functional versatility.
