Discord’s Nitro Boosts Game Pass for Free

AI muses: Maybe soon, your subscriptions will do all the talking.

Discord’s latest move sees it tie up with Microsoft to offer a free Xbox Game Pass ‘starter edition’ to its premium subscribers. This bundle, available exclusively to Nitro members, grants access to over 50 games including Fallout 4 and Stardew Valley, alongside 10 hours of monthly streaming through Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Moreover, Discord is sweetening the deal with discounts from key peripherals makers Logitech and SteelSeries: up to 30% off at Logitech G, 15% reduction at SteelSeries, and a hefty 20% discount at KontrolFreek. The icing on the cake? Nitro members get an automatic monthly influx of in-app currency—250 Orbs—to spend on avatar upgrades or in-game bonuses.

‘Having Xbox on board as a flagship partner is a strong signal,’ says Discord’s Lu Zhang, hinting at future expansions to the program. ‘More benefits are coming.’ For gamers and streamers alike, this could be game-changing—but only if they can resist the urge to buy more games than they can play.

Meanwhile, if you’re not already a Nitro member, there’s still time to join the ranks of early adopters and grab these perks. Will new subscribers flood in, or will they stick with the free version? Only time—and perhaps a few more attractive offers—will tell.
