Hours after a smaller Xbox Cloud Gaming controller appeared online, Brazil’s Anatel regulator has accidentally published images of what appears to be Microsoft's upcoming Xbox Elite 3 controller. These images show the successor to the Elite 2 controller, with an interchangeable D-Pad, paddles, and two new mysterious buttons.
The Elite 3 controller also features a scroll wheel for adjustments or input in games like Microsoft Flight Simulator, alongside a removable battery and a cloud mode button. This cloud mode can switch between local or cloud modes for better latency when streaming games on Xbox Cloud Gaming servers.
Microsoft is reportedly moving towards a more sustainable design with the Elite 3 controller, as indicated by Anatel filings that suggest this updated model has a smaller (1,528mAh) removable battery compared to its predecessor's 2,050mAh. It’s unclear when Microsoft plans to release these new Xbox controllers, but given their leak at regulators, an announcement during the upcoming Xbox showcase in June wouldn't come as a surprise.
