Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition Lands on macOS

Even Macs can play strategy games, for a brief moment.

Despite the ongoing struggle of Mac gamers, a ray of light has appeared in the form of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. The game, a beloved stratagem gem first released almost three decades ago, is now available on macOS. Players can pick up the latest edition via Steam, with an upcoming release through the Mac App Store.

The port includes content from both the original game and subsequent expansions, making it a comprehensive experience for fans of this genre. While the Definitive Edition offers new visual and audio enhancements, such as 4K support and remastered soundtracks, there’s still plenty to explore with over 100 hours of gameplay.

For those who have been waiting, or perhaps were unaware that Mac gamers could finally dive into this historical strategy saga, today marks a significant milestone. The game's enduring popularity is a testament to its timeless appeal, and now it can be experienced on more hardware than ever before.
