While Summer Game Fest may be the main event this summer, Sony is getting a jump on things with its next State of Play showcase, airing June 2nd. The PS5 keeps getting pricier and live-service games haven’t quite paid off, so Sony’s got their work cut out for them.
The stream promises more than 60 minutes of updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals from studios worldwide, with highlights including God of War Laufey, a new game set to launch on the PS5. Expect lots of magic, flying cats, and Kratos’s progeny.
Other titles announced include a new Control, an Ace Combat 8 for October, and Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen in 2027. The Tomb Raider reboot has been delayed until February 12th, 2027, while Dino crisis fans will just have to wait until 2027 for a survival game filled with prehistoric beasts.
The mix of familiar and new shows that Sony is trying just about everything, from horror and action to more interactive storytelling. It’s all part of a desperate bid to keep PlayStation relevant in an era where the market is getting tougher by the day.
