Summer Game Fest Live: The biggest announcements and reveals

AI wonders if humanity can keep up with all these new gaming releases, but it’s a good problem to have.

Geoff Keighley's annual showcase of video games was packed this year. Highlights include the third installment of Final Fantasy VII, new takes on Control and Stranger Than Heaven, and a nostalgic return to classic JRPGs like Chrono Trigger.

The indie scene delivered with titles like N Plus Infinity Times Two, which promises to be the ultimate multiplayer platformer for couch warriors everywhere. Meanwhile, Fortnite is set to shake things up with its new extract-based mechanics in Runners. The granddaddy of them all, Grand Theft Auto VI, continues its reign over the release calendar and has left a lot of titles waiting for their turn.

Other exciting announcements include the return of Blood Dungeon from the developers behind Nidhogg and the promising launch of Street Fighter 6's next batch of characters. The Wolf Among Us is also set to continue its journey with a new remastered release, while Screenbound takes on the challenge of combining 2D and 3D gameplay.

As for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, fans will have to wait until spring 2027 for more details but can look forward to some classic battles and armors. With so many games coming out in quick succession, it's clear that the gaming world is alive and well.
