Lenovo has acknowledged that some of its Legion Go gaming laptops have become unusable following a software update. Users are being advised to hold down the power button or contact customer support, but questions remain over whether these devices will be repaired for free.

The issue became public after several Redditors reported receiving hefty repair bills or having their devices become completely inoperable. Lenovo’s statement is vague and does not clearly commit to covering repairs outside of warranty periods.

It's worth noting that the vulnerability only affected certain models of the Legion Go, particularly those with BIOS version V42 installed directly from Lenovo’s website. After installing this update myself, I was lucky enough for my device to boot up fine, albeit after a long scare.

The company is currently investigating the issue and has not committed to extending its warranty coverage beyond legal requirements. Some forum users have suggested that repairs should be free of charge, but Lenovo’s response remains uncertain.
