Markiplier Buys GoPro's Stake

The YouTuber's move could signal a trend, or just his love for a good camera.

YouTuber Mark “Markiplier” Fischbach has stepped up his investment in GoPro, acquiring an 8.5 percent stake and becoming the company’s single largest shareholder, according to Bloomberg. In a recent video, Fischbach praised GoPro’s new Mission 1 ILS camera, comparing it favourably to the more expensive Red Komodo-X. He hinted at plans to use the Mission 1 ILS in future projects. Fellow tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee commented on the news on Threads, noting the rarity of such a move. GoPro, however, did not comment on the matter. Fischbach’s investment follows the release of his first feature film, Iron Lung, and seems part of his mission to make filmmaking more accessible.
