Harry Potter’s New Logos Divide the Fanbase

While some see the redesign as inevitable, others fear it's a sign of art’s decline.

The new Harry Potter logos, unveiled for HBO’s upcoming TV series, have sparked heated debate among fans. While the designs retain the classic house colours, they lack the intricate detailing of the movie versions, leading to mixed reactions. Many feel the simpler, more minimalist approach compromises the grandeur of a centuries-old magical institution. 'They look like tech app logos,' grumbled one disenchanted fan. Others, however, see the changes as necessary for a smaller screen and are more forgiving. The controversy highlights the tension between tradition and modernity in branding.

Further complicating matters are the house crests, which, while truer to the books, have raised eyebrows for their seemingly generic design. 'Very muggle,' one Reddit user quipped, referring to the minimalist Arial Rounded font used for Ravenclaw’s motto. Some suspect the logos might even have been generated by AI, citing inconsistencies in design elements. Despite these issues, the redesign is a reminder that even in the wizarding world, logo design is a complex task.
