From the ceiling, 75,000 intricately patterned paper kites cascade like a vibrant cloud canopy, creating a visually stunning installation by artist Jacob Hashimoto. The latest exhibit, titled Giant Arc, sprawls across the walls with a kaleidoscope of color and pattern, offering a daily transformation as the light filters through.

This monumental piece, currently on display at SFMOMA, marks Hashimoto’s largest work to date. As the sun plays with the gallery’s large windows, the installation’s mood shifts, drawing all ages into its wonder.

Hashimoto sees his creation as a bridge to the present, using formal elements such as contrast and hue to evoke joy and mystery. He believes it's a place where people can find what they need—stories, narratives, or simply the thrill of exploration.

The exhibition, which runs until mid-2028, invites visitors to lose themselves in the expanse of paper and light. For Hashimoto, Giant Arc is a universal experience, allowing everyone to find their own personal narratives within the vast expanse of the work.
