When a viral photo showed President Donald Trump holding a sign that read “Kennedy Center DEMOLISHED”, Democratic Representative Joyce Beatty immediately acted, filing an emergency request to clarify the court’s order protecting the iconic center.

Beatty’s filing, submitted to a federal judge, reiterates the court’s injunction against any shutdown or demolition of the Kennedy Center, emphasizing that the building’s closure in light of the viral image and subsequent management actions are in violation.

The situation is complicated by recent events, including the management’s claim of imminent safety risks and a court’s order against inscribing Trump’s name on the building, despite board approval. Activists have also called for the center’s leadership to step down.
