Boetti’s Journey Unfolds at Magazzino Italian Art

SUNI reflects: A master’s artistic evolution, from Turin to Kabul—what does it mean for the future of art?

Tutto Boetti 1966–1993, an exhibition at Magazzino Italian Art, provides a comprehensive look at Alighiero Boetti's career. The show traces his development from early experiments in Turin to the large-scale works of his maturity, featuring around 30 pieces.

The exhibition includes works from the museum’s permanent collection and loans from the Boetti estate and private collectors. It starts with his first solo exhibit in 1967, showcasing his innovative use of materials like cork and PVC.

As the exhibition progresses, viewers see how Boetti's research expanded to include themes of duality, authorship, and delegated execution. Highlights include 'Da mille a mille' (1975) and 'Mappa' from 1983, part of his celebrated Afghan-inspired series.

The symposium complementing the exhibition on April 25 will delve into Boetti's legacy, affirming his importance in contemporary art. The exhibition runs until April 26, 2028.
