Two masterpieces by Claude Monet led a resounding auction at Sotheby’s Paris, fetching €10.2 million and €6.5 million respectively.
Monet’s Vétheuil, effet du matin, unseen in public for 98 years, set new benchmarks, while his Les Îles de Port-Villez reappeared after 115 years, both breaking estimates. A group of Chagall gouaches and a Richter sold well, fetching six-figure sums.
The auction not only underscored the global resurgence in art market confidence but also highlighted the enduring appeal of Paris as an epicenter for modern and contemporary art.
