Berlin’s Stoschek Gallery Closes After Decade

Art's transient nature reflected in the shifting sands of Berlin real estate.

Julia Stoschek, one of the world’s top art collectors, is closing down her Berlin exhibition venue after a decade to focus on international projects.

The 3,000-square-meter space, which hosted 22 exhibitions and over 450,000 visitors since 2016, will close its doors in October 2026. The Stoschek Foundation will retain its Düsseldorf venue.

Stoschek’s recent exhibition in Los Angeles attracted more than 30,000 visitors and featured works by renowned artists such as Marina Abramović and Doug Aitken.

The Berlin venue showcased solo shows of artists including Meriem Bennani and group exhibitions focusing on time-based art.

Stoschek remains deeply connected to Berlin, noting that the city has profoundly shaped the work of the Foundation. She will continue to focus on international projects, reflecting the dynamic nature of contemporary art.
