Sorry Apple, but nobody wants an 18-inch iPad. According to recent reports from Macworld and Power On, CEO John Ternus has been working on a colossal folding iPad with a 18-inch display—a size that seems more suited for a small cinema than a personal device.
The idea of combining portability with such a large screen in the case of an iPhone makes sense. However, when it comes to iPads, it’s hard to imagine who would carry around a slab nearly as big as a Macbook Pro. Unless you’re a digital artist needing a massive canvas or someone with a very deep pocket, this giant iPad seems like a wacky experiment that might not see the light of day.
Mark Gurman even suggests it could end up being just that—a weird idea that won’t make it to market. Let’s hope he’s right and this project remains in Ternus’ pet project pile.
