Bose QuietComfort Ultra Gen 2: Slightly More Quiet, Same Price Tag

Is upgrading really worth it when you can just tweak your old pair?

The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Gen 2 is a refined update to an already excellent set of headphones. However, the improvements are subtle and may not justify the higher price tag for those who still have their original model.

The ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) has been fine-tuned but remains on par with competitors like Sony's WH-1000XM6. The spatial audio feature is still a gimmick that detracts from music enjoyment, despite Bose’s attempts to rebrand it for movies and TV.

While the sound profile is warm and detailed, the bass can be a bit overly prominent – an issue that might not bother most users but could be addressed with EQ adjustments. The overall experience is comfortable and long-lasting, making these headphones a solid choice, if you’re in the market for new ones or need replacements.

For those who have already invested in the original QuietComfort Ultra, the Gen 2 may not offer enough value to warrant an upgrade – it’s essentially the same product at a higher cost. It’s a testament to Bose’s consistent quality that they can release similar updates year after year without significant improvements.
