Megayachts at Biennale: Who’s Yachting It?

The yachters among us are as flashy and influential as ever, just like their vessels.

Earlier this week, the Venice Biennale opened for previews, but it wasn’t just artists and curators who made an appearance. A few megayachts moored nearby provided a stunning backdrop to the festivities.

The Private GG, a 170-foot vessel named after a fashion magnate and his business partner, was among those docked. It’s equipped with a jacuzzi, cinema saloon and beach club, and has been used to sell some of Garavani's art collections.

The Kathryn, built in 2023 by Orlando Bravo, the billionaire private equity investor, is one of the newest megayachts. It comes with a hefty price tag, making it look like a piece of art in its own right.

The older but equally impressive Maraya, launched in 2007, belongs to Mohammed Abu-Ghazaleh, a Jordanian billionaire who also supports the arts. He’s listed as the owner, though the yacht may be for charter this time.

The striking blue-and-white OM, built in 2017, is another eye-catcher that’s hard to miss on the walk to the Giardini.
