Claudia Andujar’s Life on Film

A photographer and activist’s journey through Brazil’s indigenous struggles, captured in a new biopic starring Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas.

Oscar-nominated actress Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas will star as Brazilian photographer Claudia Andujar in The Outsider, a film about her activism and dedication to the Yanomami people.

Andujar, born in Switzerland but a Brazilian citizen, found inspiration through her photographic work documenting the Yanomami. Her images became an act of resistance when Brazil’s military dictatorship cut a major highway through their land in the mid-70s.

The film, directed by Sandra Delgado and produced by Maria Farinha Filmes, aims to highlight Andujar’s pivotal role in indigenous rights and healthcare campaigns. Ibsdotter Lilleaas brings authenticity to her portrayal of a woman deeply connected to both her European heritage and Brazilian identity.

Wagner Moura, known for his roles in The Secret Agent, executive produces the film alongside Delgado and Farinha Filmes, emphasizing themes of resistance and cultural preservation. This project aligns with the company’s focus on telling powerful stories that resonate globally.

The Outsider is part of a larger repertoire from Maria Farinha Filmes, including films like Aruanas and documentaries such as The Beginning of Life. The film marks an exciting new phase for the company, expanding into pre-production and international co-productions.
