The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., has begun removing references to Donald Trump from its signs and documents after a federal judge ruled the name was added illegally.
In a memo dated June 4, the center instructed staff to replace all mentions of Trump with the institution's original legal name: 'The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.' The changes must be completed by June 12, including removing his name from the building’s facade and website pages.
The move comes a week after U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper blocked the name change and prevented the center from undergoing renovations in July. Trump himself reacted with indignation on social media, calling the judge an ‘anti-Trump Hater’ and predicting the center would close permanently.
Meanwhile, in Jerusalem, Israel’s cabinet is set to rename the Heritage and Archaeology Center at the Rockefeller Museum after Trump. The museum was established during the British Mandate period and houses artifacts excavated from across the region. The decision aims to boost attendance, with the new name expected to take effect soon.
