Our Verdict A Mac for just under £600? The MacBook Neo offers better performance than expected, with a decent screen and impressive battery life. It’s not perfect—only 8GB RAM and no keyboard backlight—but it’s a useful addition to any creative toolkit.
For - Better performance than you might expect - Decent screen - Nice price Against - Only 8GB RAM - No keyboard backlight - Strange choice of ports
The MacBook Neo, in a range of bright colours, follows the lead of Apple’s iPhone and iMac. Creative Bloq finds it built to the same high standards as premium models, with a thin but not particularly thin design.
Being small, there's less room for a large battery, but the 36.5WHr cell in the Neo does well enough, averaging just over 12 hours before needing to be charged. Despite its minimalist port selection, it’s still one step ahead of some iPhone models.
The keys are very nice to type on, with about 1mm travel, but there's no backlighting. The key at the top right differs based on storage: a lock button for base models or a fingerprint reader for the larger SSD version.
