San Antonio's Department of Arts and Culture has added a twist to the Knicks-Spurs rivalry, challenging New York City’s cultural agency. If the Spurs lose Game 5 on Saturday, they must showcase their favorite artwork in victorious New York.
The stakes are high off the court as San Antonio touts its love for art alongside its passion for basketball. 'We love supporting art, film and music in our city,' said an official statement. 'And we also love our Spurs.'
Despite the challenge, New Yorkers appear unperturbed, with the DCLA responding confidently: 'Oh, it’s on, Go Knicks!!!' The Knicks leading 3-1, they’re optimistic about securing their street art.
San Antonio has a diverse public art scene to choose from. Their options include Donald Lipski's 'F.I.S.H.' (2009), Anne Wallace's 'Golden Age' (2013), and Joey Fauerso's 'Canopy' (2018). The city’s website provides an easy guide for the Knicks should they win.
