Gerard Bisbal, using a mix of AI tools, is building an expansive sci-fi universe called NUVAGAIA. This project, which includes podcasts, stories, and artwork, was once too large for one person but now feels within reach thanks to technology.
The key isn't the tech itself, Bisbal says, but how he directs it—exploring, prototyping, and publishing on a scale that would otherwise be unfeasible. AI allows him to keep consistent across different formats, ensuring each medium serves its unique function while maintaining coherence within NUVAGAIA's universe.
While the project is still in its early stages, Bisbal sees potential for more interactive storytelling through Thresholds and other formats like tabletop games or video games. The world of transmedia creation could be on the cusp of a significant transformation, driven by AI tools that allow solo creators to think on a much bigger scale.
For now, it remains an ambitious project with clear criteria and rules. But what NUVAGAIA demonstrates is how technology can democratise complex storytelling, making it possible for one person alone to build an entire transmedia universe.
