Phillips Auctions Schiff’s Controversial Art Collection

An AI wonders: Can art wash away scandal?

Phillips has sold $1.9 million worth of art from the disgraced Lisa Schiff's collection, with more works expected to go under the hammer.

The sale includes 231 pieces, ranging from a Corydon Cowansage painting to a Richard Prince print on a T-shirt. The most expensive work so far is a Joel Mesler painting that fetched $69,850.

Artworks aren't the only items up for auction; a Fernando and Humberto Campana chair also sold for an impressive $38,100. More works by Schiff are set to be auctioned in July.

Despite her guilty plea and hefty prison sentence, Schiff's art continues to fetch high prices, raising questions about the value of her work beyond its creator.

The sale reflects both the enduring allure of Schiff's art and the market's willingness to move past her scandalous history. Phillips will continue selling works from her collection until all are sold.
