Fifth Avenue has a new resident, one that marries heritage with contemporary flair. Shaver Hall, nestled within the iconic Lord & Taylor building, presents a fresh face to New York's bustling thoroughfare. The project, spearheaded by boutique consultancy Love & War, channels the spirit of Dorothy Shaver, former president of Lord & Taylor, infusing classic design with modern innovation.
"From the start, our challenge was to honor the building’s extraordinary history while creating something vibrant and modern," says Peter Tashjian. The result is a visual identity that blends rich serifs with jewel tones, encapsulating both the past and present of this storied landmark.
Shaver Hall's branding strategy extends beyond aesthetics; it aims to create a multifaceted hub for culinary innovation, live performance, and creative expression. This approach not only revitalises an historic site but also sets a new standard for urban cultural hubs.
The project’s influence will be felt beyond its walls, as Love & War's methods inspire other brands to rethink their visual identities in the pursuit of both tradition and modernity. As Creative Bloq's Natalie Fear notes, Shaver Hall is more than just a rebrand; it embodies the future of urban cultural experiences.
