A View From the Easel With Arghavan Khosravi
It feels like I am spending my time doing what I love.
Arghavan Khosravi has been working from a small loft space in Stamford, Connecticut for almost five years. Her surreal assemblages, blending Persian miniature traditions with contemporary techniques, have made her studio a place of flexible routines and expansive creativity.
An average day begins with an espresso shot and a news podcast, often from the New York Times or Washington Post. This routine sets the stage for a day filled with sketches, underpaintings, woodshop work, and more. The live/work setup allows for flexibility, while the limited space encourages experimentation with larger works in separate sections.
Despite not having an artist community nearby, Khosravi stays connected through social media, email, and studio visits. Her favorite local museum is the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, which supports Connecticut-based artists. Academically, she finds the woodshop therapeutic and essential to her practice.
