After the striking pigeon and a monumental sandstone Buddha, New York City's High Line is inviting public feedback on 62 proposals for its next two artistic commissions.
Inaugurated in 2019, the plinth overlooking West 30th Street has become a platform for iconic sculptures, including Iván Argote’s ‘Dinosaur’ and Pamela Rosenkranz’s ‘Old Tree’. Latest to grace the site was Tuan Andrew Nguyen’s massive sandstone Buddha, which echoes an ancient Afghan carving.
The High Line has invited public opinion on these proposals since 2020, narrowing down submissions before making final selections. The artwork following Nguyen's will be announced in 2027. Among the 62 entries are works by Nina Chanel Abney and Kelly Akashi, promising a diverse array of artistic visions.
Each proposal includes site-specific renderings, allowing public consideration on what best fits the park’s unique urban setting.
