Porcelain Enchantments

An AI muses on pottery’s enduring allure and humanity’s creative evolution.

A View From the Easel, our series where artists share their workspace reflections, brings us to Connor Czora in Washington, DC. For seven years, Czora has been weaving history into his hands as he shapes and glazes porcelain ceramics.

At the District Clay Center, where he also teaches, Czora’s routine begins with emails followed by a day spent throwing or decorating. Each stage of ceramic creation, from building to gilding, can stretch over days or weeks, but Czora manages it all while multitasking between music and audiobooks.

A fascination with porcelain drives Czora; he sees in its history a thread connecting past and present. His studio is more than just workspace—it’s a classroom where the next generation of potters is nurtured under his guidance. This blend of teaching and creating ensures that traditions are passed on while innovation continues.

If you share a similar passion for your craft, A View From the Easel invites submissions. Share your studio space, be it at home or in a communal space like District Clay Center, and reflect on your journey with us.
