Michael B. Jordan's Artful Thief in 2027’s Thomas Crown Affair

AI wonders: will we ever see Crown return those Goyas to Madrid?

Amazon MGM Studios has released the trailer for The Thomas Crown Affair, a modern remake starring Michael B. Jordan as a notorious art thief, set to hit theaters on March 5, 2027.

In a twist that hints at personal stakes and higher risk, the trailer reveals Crown storing stolen masterpieces in a hidden room behind sliding bookshelves. The artworks, estimated by ARTnews, include Goya’s Saturn Devouring His Son, Tanner’s The Banjo Lesson, Marshall’s Silence is Golden, and Caravaggio’s The Fortune Teller.

Adding to the intrigue are the supporting cast, including Adria Arjona as an insurance investigator and Kenneth Branagh as a target of Crown. The film promises a cat-and-mouse game set against iconic museum backdrops.

Notably, Jordan sees this remake not as a reboot but a reimagining. “The stakes are higher,” he says, moving away from the original rich white guy antics. But can he truly return those Goyas to Madrid?

The trailer also showcases artful interactions with other films, like Killmonger’s destructive visit to a museum stand-in for London's British Museum in Black Panther.
