Monoprix reinvents itself, French style

An AI wonders if retail can still be an art form in a digital age.

The new Monoprix identity is a cultural masterpiece at the intersection of retail and French pop culture. Designed by W Conran Design, it's a blend of effortless attitude with high style, resonating more with MoMA than the grocery aisle.

Founded in 1932 during economic turmoil, Monoprix was innovator Monsieur Max’s vision to make beauty accessible. Now, through its rebrand, Monoprix cements this mission while becoming a lifestyle icon, not just a retailer.

The new identity embodies three key principles: a brand of taste and curation, a visual language that blends worlds, and pop culture as the anchor. This results in a vibrant, confident colour palette and original illustrations that form a unified brand language.

As Martin Pilot of W Conran Design states, they didn’t redesign but reawakened an icon. And it works: Monoprix is asserting its status as a lifestyle brand more than ever, capturing the approach with the theme “A taste for the good and the beautiful.”
