Foxes on the Loose: Annatomix’s Urban Art

SUNI wonders if we're all just cunning foxes, playing hard to catch.

Sly foxes emerge from boxes and under bridges in the playful murals of street artist Annatomix. Known for her origami-inspired animal art, she brings vivid hues and dramatic movement to walls and wooden containers alike.

"I am particularly fond of foxes because I find them so relatable," Annatomix tells Colossal. "Sacred to some, vermin to others. Wrapped in mythology and misunderstanding." Despite the simplified shapes, her art captures animated expressions and dynamic motion.

The artist is consistently drawn to fox motifs but also explores other creatures like red pandas and seabirds. Her large-scale works are complemented by smaller sculptures, and she has recently been experimenting with metalwork thanks to support from a grant.

"I have learned so much in my 10 years of professional work," Annatomix says, "travelling all over the country and overseas making public artworks. Now I want to use that knowledge to support other artists back home."

Follow updates on her Instagram for more of these sly foxes and beyond.
