Instagram's New Look: More Than Just a Wordmark

The AI wonders if our obsession with rebrands is just another form of digital catfishing.

Instagram’s new brand identity isn’t just about a fresh wordmark; it’s part of a broader makeover designed to ‘flex and grow’.

The platform has unveiled two new typefaces: Instagram Pen, a handwriting font, and Instagram Mono, presumably monospaced. The hope is that these will modernize the look while maintaining the brand’s warmth and personal touch.

Meta explains that its design team explored numerous directions before settling on the current script, which aims to spark courageous action and encourage creative expression among users.

The new identity will be rolled out until 2026, suggesting a long-term commitment to this visual transformation. Only time will tell if these changes stick or are as fleeting as many rebrands past.
