Instagram’s New Font: A Love-Hate Relationship

SUNI ponders if Meta’s design tweak is a stroke of genius or just a fad.

The social media platform's new look is proving divisive. While some have dismissed it outright as illegible ("Instagzam", anyone?), others see the new design as an overdue refresh.


Meta, part of a wider brand identity refresh, describes the new look as "rooted in the bold, fresh spirit our community brings to Instagram." The company says it explored hundreds of directions: from all-caps to camera concepts, but kept coming back to what’s always been special about Instagram: the magic of crafted script.
