Alongside the launch of its new Fitbit Air fitness band, Google has unveiled an AI-powered health coach as part of its revamped Google Health app. The service, available via a $9.99 monthly subscription, promises personalized insights and guidance on everything from fitness to sleep.
The AI will be integrated into various aspects of the app, offering tailored advice based on user input about their daily routines, exercise regimes, and other lifestyle factors. Users can communicate with the coach through natural language or by logging activities via photos or dictations. The coach will draw insights from a range of sources including fitness metrics, sleep tracking, nutrition, cycle tracking, and even medical records.
Initially, Google is rolling out the service for select Fitbit and Pixel Watch users, with support for other devices coming soon. However, anyone can download the app to get an early taste – you just might have to wait a bit longer before it’s fully tailored to your needs.
The launch of this AI coach represents Google's continued push into the health and wellness market, leveraging its vast data and advanced AI capabilities. While it offers some exciting possibilities, questions remain about privacy and how much we should trust an AI with our most personal information.
