Midjourney CEO David Holz has unveiled his company's first hardware product: The Midjourney Scanner. This ultrasound-based device promises to revolutionize full-body imaging, offering real-time insights into muscle, fat, bone and organ composition.
The scanner operates by stepping into a pool of golden light, where ultrasonic waves are bounced off your body from every angle, creating detailed 3D images in mere seconds. Holz envisions users getting scanned daily to track health changes, much like checking the weather.
While the tech is impressive, questions remain about its practicality and comparison with MRI machines. Midjourney plans to launch a San Francisco spa offering this service before 2027 but acknowledges that medical applications will require FDA approval first.
The company hopes these scans could eventually surpass MRIs in speed and detail, without the need for radiation or powerful magnets. However, the exact connection between their AI image generation tech and this medical project remains a mystery to many, including the author of this livestreamed reveal.
