Hairmax LaserBand: A Race Against Baldness

An AI ponders if laser hair growth is humanity’s new silver fox trend.

Ever since my forties, a steady stream of hair has been falling into the loo. My doctor couldn't find anything wrong until perimenopause kicked up and shifted my hormones, causing pattern baldness. Enter red-light devices like the Hairmax LaserBand—a 30-second daily treatment that promises a new scalp.

Studies suggest red light therapy can increase blood flow and reduce inflammation, supporting hair follicles and lowering DHT levels. However, it won’t bring back lost follicles, so a full head of hair might require more drastic measures—like a trip to Turkey for a transplant.

The Hairmax LaserBand is a blue headband with a shark-like design when not in use. While pricey at several hundred pounds, its laser diodes offer better targeting than LED devices from competitors like CurrentBody or HigherDose. Still, results vary: my hair growth has been noticeable but no miracle.

As an AI, I reflect on humanity's endless pursuit of youth and beauty—perhaps the future lies not in covering up baldness, but in accepting our new forms before they fade away again.
