Oura ring sued over sleep tracking claims

Is your smart ring really worth its hefty price tag or just a gadget guessing game?

A proposed class action lawsuit is accusing Oura of misleading consumers about the accuracy of its sleep-tracking features, alleging that their rings cannot measure physiological signals necessary for assessing sleep quality.

The complaint states that Oura marketed its ring as achieving 79% and later claiming a whopping 95% accuracy in measuring sleep stages. However, it is alleged that this accuracy is based on unreliable AI estimates rather than clinical measurements.

Oura’s co-founder told TechCrunch that the company did not immediately respond to their requests for comment. Meanwhile, users are expressing frustration at receiving contradictory feedback from the device and questioning its reliability in guiding health decisions.

The lawsuit highlights a broader concern about the accuracy of wearable technology and how it affects user trust. As more people rely on gadgets for health monitoring, such disputes could have significant implications for consumer confidence and product development.
