Richard Bronson, a former Stratton Oakmont partner who served time for securities fraud, has launched a new startup, Commissary Club, aimed at helping ex-cons find employment and housing.
The platform uses AI to assist ex-cons in navigating the often complex and confusing process of reintegration, offering a social component to create a sense of community for those who may feel isolated.
Bronson, who faced significant challenges after his release, was inspired by his own struggles and the potential difficulties faced by those with less education and job experience.
Despite the startup’s for-profit model, Bronson sees it as a win-win, aiming to create employment opportunities for a community often neglected by society. The site is free for the first 10 applications, then becomes paid.
Commissary Club has been selected for this year’s TechCrunch Startup Battlefield, highlighting the growing interest in innovative solutions for societal challenges.
