Fathom has rolled out a new feature aimed at reducing the clutter of AI assistants during meetings. The update enables its app to transcribe calls autonomously, eliminating bot-heavy meeting rooms.
The move is seen as an attempt to address users’ frustrations with multiple note-takers interrupting discussions. Fathom's CEO Richard White highlighted improvements in speaker diarization, making context clearer for users who often struggle with misattribution of comments months later.
While competitors like Granola and Talat already offer similar services, Fathom is adding video recording capabilities to its toolkit. The company has also introduced a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, allowing users to integrate meeting data into their AI tools for broader context.
Other updates include an AI query function that makes the tool more valuable for businesses and plans for an iOS app to capture in-person meetings on-the-go. Fathom's goal is to make transcription data more accurate, giving users multiple ways to capture and recall meeting content.
