From Hollywood to AI: My New Job

And it’s not as glamorous as you might think.

My name on the platform is ri611 or h924092b12ee797f, depending on who's paying me. I assess chatbot tones, annotate bizarre videos, and generate AI sex scenes—all for a measly $52 an hour.

In my 'other' career, I'm a Hollywood writer and showrunner. But when the 2023 Writers Strike left me broke, I found myself working for companies with names like Mercor and Task-ify.

The work is tedious: assessing AI responses to quirky human queries about their self-worth. It’s not just a job; it's a reminder that Hollywood wants our skills but not us as people.

Despite the secrecy and urgency, the project was cancelled without notice. The Slack channels were disbanded, and I was left wondering if this is where my creative career will end.
