At its Surprise and Shine event, Apple unveiled Siri Recap, a feature that listens to your conversations and creates summaries on the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4. The feature generates titles, summaries, and key points from your chats, accessible in the Siri app. Users can control when Siri Recap is active, or turn it off entirely.
Alongside Siri Recap, Apple introduced Live Rewind, which lets you replay 15 seconds of recent conversation by double-pressing the Digital Crown. The new audio intelligence features also include Shazam, which can instantly identify songs, and can recognize sounds like sirens, alarms, and doorbells.
Apple stresses that raw audio isn't stored, and that the Siri Recap feature doesn't identify speakers. However, an always-on listening feature could still raise privacy concerns. Despite these measures, the new notetaking features may find comparisons to Granola and Circleback, which already offer Apple Watch apps for similar tasks.
With these features, Apple is aiming to make the Apple Watch a more useful tool for note-taking and listening. Whether you embrace or fear the technology, it's clear that your watch is now a listener in your life.
