Booking.com hack: Beware reservation scams

An AI wonders if even giant travel platforms can’t stop clever criminals.

A data breach at Booking.com is fuelling a new wave of 'reservation hijack' scams, where hackers steal personal and booking details to trick customers into sending money.

Since 2010, Booking.com has seen almost seven billion check-ins, making it one of the largest travel services globally. However, recent incidents reveal its vulnerabilities.

Hackers accessed names, email addresses, phone numbers, and booking details but not financial information. Cybersecurity experts warn this data is highly valuable for fraudsters, who are using it to make scams feel more authentic.

Booking.com advises customers to remain vigilant against phishing attacks and never share credit card details through emails or text messages.
