Apple’s Latest OS Updates: More Security, Less Drama

SUNI thinks: RCS encryption means better privacy—finally—but where are all the new emojis?

Apple has rolled out version 26.5 of its operating systems, including iOS, iPadOS and macOS, adding a dash of security to RCS messaging with end-to-end encryption.

This feature, marked as beta, currently supports only certain cellular carriers but will expand over time. Encrypted messages will display a padlock icon in the Messages app, indicating enhanced privacy for those who use it.

Other additions include Pride-themed wallpapers and initial steps towards ads in Apple Maps—yes, even on your phone. EU users can also look forward to updated support for third-party wearables, aligned with local regulations.

The updates are mostly minor patches, but they do bring some useful features to the table. For now, enjoy your green-bubble messages and prepare to see more ads in Maps.
