Google’s New Agents: Your Personal Information Butler

As AI evolves, our tech becomes more like a personal assistant – or is it surveillance?

At Google I/O 2026, the search giant unveiled agentic capabilities in Search that allow users to create and manage multiple AI agents. These bots operate continuously, providing real-time updates on interests without constant prompting.

Unlike traditional searches offering lists of links, these agents gather information from various sources, explain why things matter, compare perspectives, and offer actionable insights. For example, tracking stock market movements or monitoring flight prices for upcoming vacations can now be automated by your very own digital butler.

The new feature is being rolled out to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the U.S., with plans to expand globally this summer. It comes as part of a broader redesign that includes an intelligent search box, supporting longer queries and context-aware suggestions.

As these systems become more integrated into our daily lives, the line between helpful assistant and potential privacy invasion becomes increasingly blurred. Will you feel like you're being cared for or like Google is always watching?
