The website of FBI director Kash Patel's clothing brand Based Apparel was shut down on Friday following reports that hackers had installed malware to steal data from visitors. The site remains offline as of today.
On Thursday, an anonymous user named Debbie flagged the presence of a credential-stealing infostealer. A security researcher later confirmed the analysis but could not be reached for comment by Brand Apparel.
In related tech gaffes, President Trump's cellphone provider, Trump Mobile, admitted that personal data of its customers was exposed online without encryption, including names, email addresses, mailing addresses, cell numbers and order identifiers. The company only learned about the vulnerability after a researcher alerted two YouTubers who had recently purchased phones from them.
It seems this week is not just challenging for tech security but also for those associated with the MAGA movement. With both major players falling victim to cyberattacks, one can't help but wonder what other hidden issues might be lurking in the digital world.
