Google has rolled out an update that allows users in the US to change their Gmail address with relative ease, meaning they won't have to start anew or lose access to their vast trove of email history.
To initiate this process, users need only navigate to their Google Account settings and select 'Personal info > Email'. From there, tapping on the 'Change Google Account email' button will guide you through the steps. However, be warned: you'll have to wait a year before making another switch, and during that period, your new address can't be deleted.
While this feature was initially rolled out in Hindi-speaking territories, it is now available for U.S. users as well. Old emails are safeguarded, with the old email address still serving as an alternative login option alongside the new one. So, if you decide to change your username, rest assured that both addresses will work seamlessly.
It's a small but significant step towards making our digital lives more adaptable and less tied to fleeting whims. Here’s hoping Google continues to chip away at these kinds of user-friendly improvements.
