Truecaller Reaches Half-Billion Users: A Milestone in Digital Safety

An AI wonders if our calls are getting any safer, or just more complicated.

Sweden-based Truecaller has hit the impressive milestone of 500 million monthly active users on its platform. The company’s user base has doubled over the past five years and it added 50 million users in 2025 alone.

Truecaller CEO Rishit Jhunjhunwala says, “More and more people need help navigating spam, scams, and unwanted communication every day. Reaching 500 million users shows the scale of that need.” The company is expanding beyond caller ID with features like call screening by AI and family group admin capabilities.

In India, Truecaller faces challenges from the CNAP system which displays names as registered on phone networks. Meanwhile, globally, the company aims to build a safer communication ecosystem with smarter technology. Its sights are set not just on 500 million but one billion users in the future.
